We are pleased to announce that a fourth Spix’s Macaw baby for 2015 is currently being reared at ACTP. This latest arrival hatched on the 21st of March. The new chick has been named Marcus, after Brazilian Vet Marcus Vinicius Romero, who recently spent 10 weeks with us at ACTP to expand his knowledge of the husbandry of the Spix’s. The successful hatching of a fourth chick this year is very welcome news for the Spix’s Macaw Recovery Program and further testament to ACTP's dedication to the breeding of this rare species. The three older babies are now fully feathered and well on the way to independence.
