Update on the St.Lucia parrot program

Posted on

It became even more important for us to strengthen our work on the Caribbean Islands after seeing the devastating impact of the last hurricane "Maria" on these islands. As a result, we had the honor to get a visit, at our facility here in Germany, from Hon. Minister Ezechiel Joseph, PS John Calixte and Chief Forestry officer Adams Toussaint of Saint Lucia Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Cooperatives this week. We took the opportunity to discuss future steps of the program and set up a 5-year action plan for the conservation of the St. Lucia parrot. The meeting was very productive, new ideas were brought up, especially in regards to Hurricane protection. Seeing the urgency of continuing the in-situ and ex-situ work, our partnership is even stronger now and we are all looking forward to continue the work on the beautiful St. Lucia parrot and its amazing habitat. We will have amazing news for you shortly...
